Correct me if I'm wrong but current computer programs can only use lookup tables (or similar) to determine results in a program.
When they reach sentience and are capable of actual thought then this will change, but not before then !
All our current games are simulations, and the differences between them depend on programming with alternative lookup tables.

This is the difference between a simulation and reality.

Quote from Scawen :Yes, a programmer like me, but not me. I have too much important work to do, so can't spend time coding for individual people just so they can use an obsolete version of the Rift SDK, purely because other software developers can't be bothered to update their software.

Smile That rates as an awesome sys admin response to a (l)user request, and it's from a programmer !!!

Done a bit more digging and it seems the G920 is an Xbox wheel, with some PC support, or rather the lack of PC support.

According to the main dogitech page.. "G920 Driving Force also works on PC with select titles using Logitech Gaming Software." But it doesn't bother naming these 'select' titles.
http://gaming.logitech.com/en-nz/product/g920-driving-force

That's really a pretty major fail for this thing. I'd try to get your money back as it's not fit for sale as a PC wheel !

"Sadly, game support on PC at the time of writing is lacking. While Xbox One support is spot on for all games that support force-feedback wheels, only very few games are currently working with the G920 on PC. Out of the many games tested, only F1 2015 and Euro Truck Simulator 2 work perfectly, with others suffering from force feedback issues. Hopefully these can be ironed out before the retail release of the G920 in October.

Ok, your from the US of A so excited marketing etc will be natural. Read on.

There is a game from Reiza studio's called Stock Car EXTREME !!!. Stupid name but still a pretty good game that allows modding of cars/tracks etc. Good AI, lots of cars etc, been racing a Formula V round Pukekohe classic most of the holidays, so, there is a mod for this game which is your CART class you want. This is 1998, close enough.
The current game is based on rFactor 1, with mega tweaking, new game, look up for yourself cus New Years and........

The mod's called Cart EXTREME !!!, downloadable here, tracks are here, Game is here on steam, cost's $27 NZ atm (about $1 US of A) and if you buy before 6 Jan you get the new game release free.

About the same price as Rockingham.........., ( Which is a free download here) Yes, well,......., So, how can you not buy 2 games, mods, etc for that price ?

Watch and enjoy

Different track but here's the V Smile
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meexgj114F0

And this is another good V example,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZmTQQOqjXc

It also has a pretty good Aussi/Kiwi V8 mod, not being finished atm cus bitchin, but whats there is good.

Fully agree mrd3r. Many of us get banned for trying to race on first world servers, so we need to race the AI, and while they are in fact better than they were, yes, sad but true, they are still a bit challenged.
Actually, they race like ( Safe Zone for offended nationalities Smile ) and we all know how bad they are.
And just fast lapping gets boring very quickly. LFS is an online game, best racing actual people so hopefully the Devs will keep releasing great content, the user base will grow and the game moves forward.

Meanwhile, TCR is back up in NZ, not that anyone but me seems to be there, a couple of Aussie servers, nothing I've seen in Indonesia, but here's hoping Smile

Who is your internet provider, because Britain ( Ok, Your in Serbia but the facts are too awesome to miss, see further down for Serbian IP issue solutions) has sold lots of IP addresses to ISIS, Yes, for Real..... This is not a joke !!!!!!

Seriously !!!!

So, I strongly suggest you talk to your Internet Provider and get an IP address out of the banned range.......

Or not, whatever .......

But I'd suggest that this can only be solved by getting a different IP address.

Here is the range of Serbian IP addresses and owners, talk to your provider to get an address in a clear range.

Have fun with that US driven issue !

THE BEATLES
’ back catalogue of music is available on nine streaming services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and Google Play Music.........

In Wednesday's NME, Graham Coxon of Blur stated "Chris Evans is the biggest wanker in the world. You can put that on record." He still had them on his show the same Friday. The most embarrassing piece of television last year was The Brit Awards, when Liam Gallagher called Evans "ginger b****cks" and told him to "f*** off". Because you could see how much Evans wanted Liam to like him.

He is, when you come down to it, a classic insecure ugly man, which is why so much of his air time is taken up telling us which models and which blonde assistants he has shagged.

So he must be Captain Wonderful for the BBC, who's previous hero's include a Mr J Savile....

1955: The earliest incident of abuse recorded by the police. It took place in Manchester, where at the time he managed a dance hall.

1960: In one of a handful of example cases given by the police, a 10-year-old boy asked Savile for his autograph outside a hotel. Savile took the boy inside and seriously sexually assaulted him.

1 January 1964: Savile presents the first ever Top of the Pops for the BBC. He had previously been a DJ at Radio Luxembourg in 1958.

1965: Records show abuse started at the BBC, at Leeds general infirmary, where Savile was a long-term volunteer porter, and at Stoke Mandeville hospital, where he also volunteered.

1966: This was the start of what police have identified as Savile's peak period for abuse, which lasted a decade.

Move the clock forward to Feb 2015, after 60 years of publicly well known accusations against him the BBC finally let their hero go......

"Savile was one of Britain's biggest stars, a larger-than-life character who was known for tea-time TV favourites like Top of the Pops and Jim'll Fix It as well as stints on BBC Radio 1.
At the same time, it has since come to light, he was exploiting his status to prey on hundreds of people - girls and boys, men and women, but mostly vulnerable young females."

Run LFS, Options, Controls, Axes/FF, left mouse button on throttle, press on throttle pedal, (Slider 0 on my G27) Left click on Slider 0, goes gray, magic, now works. Smile

Also select throttle/brake axes as separate. The logitech profiler usually does this, try downloading that.
Here's the win 7 version.

Motorhead vocalist and bassist Lemmy aka Ian Fraser Kilmister has died of cancer in Los Angeles.

He died on Monday (US time) aged 70. The band confirmed Lemmy's death with a post on its official Facebook page.

"There is no easy way to say this...our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer," it read.

Lemmy was lead vocalist, bassist, principal songwriter and the founding, and the only constant member of Motörhead since the band’s formation in 1975. To date, Motörhead have released twenty studio albums and achieved 30 million in sales worldwide. Their last record, Bad Magic, was released in August 2015.

TV4 in NZ has my sense of humour, F the Sound of Music, this is their Christmas Eve viewing !

"God dammit, this is f!^% ridiculous!"

Way up in the mountains in a small little town,
The Main Street was being decorated all up and down.
People stood in long lines, sometimes waiting hours or more,
Because Christmas needs to be bought in a store.
But out in the forest, not too far away...

[The forest floor, night. The critters have set up a campfire close to the manger and are keeping warm by it.]

PORCUPINEY
Oooo.

BEARY
You all right, Lady Porcupiney?

PORCUPINEY
Oh yes, just felt a little kick is all.

BEAVERY
Well, it's been much too long now. Uh U'm afraid our helpful friend Stanny must be very dead.

FOXY
Yep, the mountain lion probably swallowed him whole.

RABBITY
I guess that means our Savior is gonna be made into Savior stew.

CRITTERS
Awwww.

CHICKADEE-Y
Wait a minute, look!

CRITTERS
Stanny!

MOUSEY
Stanny, you're alive.

BEARY
But, does that mean you killed the mountain lion?

STAN
It's dead.

DEERY
For real and for true?

BEAVERY
Are you sure.

STAN
I'm sure. It won't be hurting you anymore.

SQUIRRELY
He did it! Now our critter Christmas can finally happen! Hail Satan!

Quote from SmokeyBanjo :Stuff

Read through your posts, it's an old pc from the attic running (Not stated but XP ?) an old OS.

What's running in the background ?, malware ?, 'stuff' ?, lama porn ?, web browser ?.
Try a clean install if you can, probably not but worth a try. Your running a G25, so stump up some $ for a core 2 duo/quad system. You can get them for stuff all, well worth looking at.

At the very least, run malwarebytes and ccleaner. Turn off any AV when your racing, same as iTunes or anything else. Take an informed look at services.msc and turn off everything not actually needed.
Be careful with that though, but it's a good learning curve.

Don't bother reading my last post guys, not like it doesn't actually explain things !!!!!!!

To REPEAT, LFS is NOT a launch title, don't know why not, not my department. HERE, and HERE are some of the launch titles.

Try reading Farcebooks posts, you need to have sold your soul and income to Farcebook to be accepted. LFS is probably not acceptable as it's not a big money game studio, (cough -EVE- cough) or daft enough to sign over their earnings to get the "Farcebook Launch Publicity Experience".

Does your game have micro transactions and run within Farcebook ? If not, work it out for yourself !!!!

Key points though, the game seems to work well with both Occ Thrift and Valve, that's extra sales for the Devs. Isn't that great Smile

It gets great VR reviews from almost everyone who's used it and that can only be positive moving forward.

Not being in bed with Farcebook is also a great thing, saves you from the corporate transmitted diseases that tend to happen to small co's that do that.

Most people in the small sim racing world know LFS and know it works well in the VR universe.

I think LFS has bigger things to focus on improving getting into the 20 late teens than VR, but they have done a great job there.
So, weather ?, damage modelling ?, crash physics ?, tyre pysics ?, S1 cars ?, car interiors ?........

But, the VR stuff is great for everyone who uses it.

Rock Paper Shotgun,

"Oculus have announced that “final Rift hardware” is now on its way to developers who are “imminently shipping.” “Imminently” is a very exciting word."

"For those devs who are not working on launch titles, Oculus say that the old DK2 headset and 0.8 SDK is sufficient, suggesting that there won’t be a vast gulf in technology between the DK2 and the consumer model, even if the latter is likely to be a more beautiful and comfortable experience. If you’re a VR dev who thinks you can become an Oculus launch title dev, you can submit your game or application here and might wind up with a final tech headset if you sufficiently impress ‘em."

LFS is not a 'LAUNCH' title, ergo the DK2 is all you need for LFS dev.

Remember this is all about money and marketing, it's owned by Farcebook after all !

"The Live for Speed development team has announced the first ever real racing track to be making it into their simulation as Britain’s Rockingham Motor Speedway will be joining LfS.

Rockingham won’t just be the first real track to be included in Live for Speed, it will also be the first laser-scanned track to join the simulation. Thanks to the laser scanning, the team has archived a very impressive level of detail as you can see below. The track will be released as part of a S3 license update together with another new car, a release date has not yet been announced."

Now, why am I a bit cynical about ""S3 RELEASED !!!!!!!, Pay uz moniesss...."

The Dev's have chosen to label S3 as Rockingham. A circuit I can race on with many other games without spending Poundings 12, but that's their choice and is a great marketing strategy.

It seems that the new physics will still apply to S1 & S2 so this is not an issue.

Offline is still 'ok', thanks for the extra AI cars, shame they are a bit vacant when it comes to driving skillz......

I'll buy S3 when either, damage modelling, weather, tyre physics, lead to online racing Down Under, or whatever.

I'm not (well, I clearly am) going to criticize their choice, I'm just not buying S3 till my requirements are met....

It's really sad, I'm just going to have to play Dirt Rally and AC till then, don't know how I'll cope.

Seriously, games have moved on since 2008, and that's a kind review of how LFS stands today. LFS needs to look at it's competition and come up with a plan to move the game forward. This S3 release does strike me as a bit of a cynical cash grab, but hey, all's fair in business.

I went on the Internet and I found this - Latest Tech News
Racer X NZ
S2 licensed
Homage to........

Meanwhile, looking at the latest tech news that will improve gaming.
This will really work to get VR working....

"In fact, it’s not just graphics that’s getting a long overdue proverbial to the nether regions. Next year is almost definitely going to be the best year for PC gaming hardware, full stop, for a very long time. So strap in for what is merely part one of my guide to the awesomeness that will be 2016.

Either way, we’re looking at roughly 1TB/s of graphics memory throughput, which technically is known as ‘1CT’ or ‘a craptonne of bandwidth’. Of course, there will be architectural improvements, too. Nvidia is arguably ahead of the curve here with its uber-efficient Maxwell chips. But AMD will be making its first really major revision to the GCN tech that’s been powering its graphics chips for the last four years. GCN 2.0? Most likely.

All told, the net result could well be something silly like 80 per cent more performance. Graphics cards that are suddenly twice as fast as before, in other words.

NB: For instant gratification you can find the usual TL;DR shizzle at the bottom."

Yes, I fully agree that 'LFS' and 'latest video cards' is not a conversation that we are used to seeing. LFS graphics being a bit renown for their lack of 'Bleeding Edgeness'.
However, given the '(Edit due to SJW's)' and excitement at VR systems, and given that the minimum specs of these systems leave my GTX 580 back in the stone age for LFS VR requirements, then I felt that this info was well worth a first post.

An upgrade for many of us will be necessary so this is a chance for us to comment on the latest tech to improve our gaming experience.

Track IR VS Occ Rift/HTC Vive
Racer X NZ
S2 licensed
I fully agree that VR headsets will win over Track IR sometime IN THE FUTURE.

Right now, would people who use these systems comment so we can have an open frank conversation about which is best as time, and this conversation go on.

14/12/2015 (US time, 20 minutes into the future) Track IR currently gives you the ability to look around, use keyboard shortcuts, controllers etc. Also it allows you to see your keyboard etc and exist in the non virtual world. This is really important both as a racer, and with flight programs !!!, I'm sure that the VR world will move forward but how many programs manage now ??? as technology moves forward this will be brought into the VR world but NOW, this is really important to most users.

From what I read, the VR world has problems with this ATM, but that's based on watching videos and reading reviews. I'm sure that tech will move forward but right now it seems that TrackIR works better, at least for people like me. For those who use VR, what do you think ?

Comments from those into VR, Agree, disagree, whatever ?

Reply to the last two posts;

Cargame, you do an awesome job for LFS, you run great servers etc, It would just be great to race as even a ping of 250 will allow safe racing, and then ban on crashes if I cause those....

Gutholz, WTF ???. In Australasia we have all moved on to AC, iRacing etc. The point I was making is that LFS is, netcode wise, better, but due to a lack of progress for MANY years, it's now dead down here and without the ability to get online racing up and running again it's going to stay that way.
Even GP Legends is more alive here !!!!!

It would cost me money to host LFS servers and with no users it's pointless, and I can enjoy other games so I don't care. I care even less given the European attitude regarding lag.

So, lag is less important in a FPS than it is in a racing game ?

Yet another learning experience............

And a couple more steps towards WW part 3.

After the U.S. invasion of Iraq the U.S vice consul Paul Bremer tried to install a handpicked Iraqi government. The top Shia religious authority in Iraq, Grand Ajatollah Sistani, demanded a democratic vote. The issue was thereby decided. There was no way the U.S could have circumvented Sisitani’s edict without a massive revolt by the 65% of Iraqis who are Shia and mostly follow his advice. Bremer had to fold.

Now Ajatollah Sistani takes position against the Turkish invasion of Iraq:

Iraq’s top Shi’ite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, called on the government on Friday to show “no tolerance” of any infringement of the country’s sovereignty, after Turkey deployed heavily armed troops to northern Iraq.

“The Iraqi government is responsible for protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and must not tolerate and side that infringes upon on it, whatever the justifications and necessities,” Karbalai’i said in a weekly sermon.

And Russia have also had enough of Turkey.

'President Vladimir Putin on Friday ordered Russia’s armed forces to act in an “extremely tough way” in Syria to protect Russian forces striking Islamic State targets there.

Any targets threatening our (military) group or land infrastructure must be immediately destroyed,” Putin said, speaking at a Defence Ministry event.'

Vladimir Putin has praised the Russian cruise missiles fired against terrorists in Syria from the sea. He expressed hope that these weapons would not have to be armed with nuclear warheads.

“We must analyze everything happening on the battlefield, how the weapons operate. The Kalibrs (sea based cruise missiles) and KH-101 (airborne cruise missile) have proved to be modern and highly effective, and now we know it for sure - precision weapons that can be equipped with both conventional and special warheads, which are nuclear,” Putin said.

“Naturally, this is not necessary when fighting terrorists and, I hope, will never be needed,” the president added.

Memo to US, this is now not a game that you always win, note to Europe, You are collateral damage.
This is a serious statement from Russia that manure into the fan is the next stage. Talk to your MP's, Whoever and try to stop these Western phuq wits creating a mega death event for money.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with your opinion. The issue is that, until recently there was minimal dev support for the game.
Given Occ Rift/Valve gear there is now some development. BUT, this gear is in the future, round here, a lot in the future.

There are now no players here as the servers have all closed because the game was not supported for a long time, basically, lets play games that are supported is the attitude here.

If you, I, whoever, want the LFS user base to grow then we need to work together to get that happening.

So, ATM, if there was some encouragement from Europe to grow the paying user base here, that would help to get more paying users. When you just ban people because they are trying to play from here, that is a bit of a turn off for the game.

And we all know that LFS is an on line game.

When the user base grows, then we can get servers going here AGAIN.

Or not, I don't care, if you run european servers clearly you care more about this game than I do.

I can throw money into hosting here but why ? I'm not going 'virtual' for several years, there is no guarantee of support for actual racers, ie, tracks, cars etc.

We have done this for years here and, with no progress on development it has died here.

Cool, clearly either you only want LFS to be a euro online game, so have fun, or we try to work together to move this game forward globally, grow the user base again, and try to get things moving. Smile
